The check-up at the Dentist

On Tuesday we went to Kayla and Jordan's dentist to get their teeth checked. This is their 4th time going and I was hoping that this time they would actually sit in the dentist chair. Well.....................................................................they were so good.

Kayla went first and she sat very still. The dentist got to even clean her teeth for the first time. Kayla wasn't so sure about it though. She kept getting stuff in the back of her throat that would make her gag and cough. She has all of her teeth except for the last 4 molars and no cavities. She does have a small mouth and her teeth are very close together (Sorry that she has my teeth). I see braces in her future. :(

This is how Jordan kept occupied while Kayla was in the chair: That is one huge yellow toothbrush!

Next up was Jordan's turn:

He was a little squirmy, so the dentist decided to not put the chalky paste on his teeth. One of his back molars is coming in....he has been fighting me a little when I brush his teeth at night. No cavities and his teeth are also close together (not as close as Kayla's though). More braces!!!!!! I won't be looking forward to our dentist bills in the future!

After they were all done they got to pick out a toy from the treasure chest since they had no cavities. Amazingly it was a fairly stress free visit.

Its amazing how kids will sit for the dentist. :) They did really good. I hate even going to the dentist still, I think its more fun when your little, dont have enough damage yet. lol

I was wondering at what age you should start taking your children to the dentist. I asked our pediatrician at Brianna's last visit (her 2 year check up). He told me by the age of 3, kids are usually ready to be introduced to the "dreaded" dentist. I think every child is different though. I don't know if Brianna would sit still long enough. She'd probably be scared and cry. I'm presently looking for a pediatric dentist in our area. She brushes her teeth 3 times a day with help from a grown up. She just loves to brush her teeth! Unbelievable to me!
