A train disaster

After work today Jeromy decided he would try to get the kids to play the correct way with their trains by using the remote to make their trains move. It took a while to get them to do it right, but finally they got it. I apologize that this video is so grainy.

In this next video you will see what great idea Jeromy gave the kids........look out little people or you will get run over by a train.

Disney mind control

A few months ago I bought a Disneyland sing-along DVD for the kids. Even though we are going to Disney World a lot of the songs, characters, and rides are also the same at Disneyland. We have watched it a bunch of times and my hopes are that they will recognize many things and be in wonder when we go on our trip in May. Also, I was thinking that most of the characters they have only seen as a cartoon.....on this DVD they are the actual characters as seen in the parks.

Here is what repeating a DVD many many times will do:

I always get a kick out of them singing and dancing!!!!

Fiddle-Dee-Dee

Our new semester of Kindermusik began today. It seems to be all about animals with a lot of songs that feature the fiddle. I look forward to a new class and almost all of the other kids were in their class last session. We do have a new teacher and it will be interesting to see what her teaching style is. We will have done 3 sessions and all have been with a new teacher! In their little dog house they got a cd, activity book, reading book about different animals, and a musical instrument (2 sticks that you can either shake or tap to make noise). They also got balloons, which as you can see in the picture we only have one. That would be because Jordan sat on his and popped it right after we got home.

Hats and choo-choos

My update today will consist of some of the fun ways that Kayla and Jordan play with items. It amazes me when I think of how creative kids can be.

These bowls have now become hats.......even Jeromy got in on the fun.

Everything gets made into a choo-choo train.....look at our fridge (the magnets are all in one long line).

Here they have taken our coasters and lined them up on their train table with other toys on top.

Here is a little more detail:

There isn't any rhyme or reason why they chose the toys that they did to place on top of everything.

During t.v. time which is usually when we want them to quiet down or right before bedtime they like to get under a blanket....many times they ask for either mommy or daddy to get under with them.

3 moms, 4 sweet little girls, and 1 cute little boy

Today we visited our friends Kara and Sophia. Amber, Marisa, and Julia also came to visit. It was interesting to see what each child wanted to play with or with whom. I have a feeling that Jordan is going to be whining for some boy companionship soon. Time will tell.

It was so much fun.....they played with dolls, puzzles, books, dress-up, toy food/smoothies. We had a nice lunch and for dessert we had peanut butter cookies (dipped in milk). Yummy!!!!

The kids decided to play a game of hide and seek. Even little Julia was getting into the game.

Near the end of our time together all of the kids said good-bye to one another, gave hugs, and even some kisses. So precious!!

This was a very challenging puzzle for them.....the A,B,C's.....it took all four toddlers to figure out. :)

Big girl Underwear

I am happy to report that Kayla has been in big girl panties for 1 week now and is doing so well. She has had a few accidents, but that is to be expected.

For about a week I had been realizing that she would stay dry all morning and I just knew that it was time to jump into underwear. She has taken on her new role with a lot of gusto. I have put her panties where she can get to them so it makes it more exciting for her to pick out which ones she wants to wear in the morning.

I originally wanted to try to train both Kayla and Jordan together, but decided that I better take this opportunity with Kayla while I have it and hopefully Jordan will follow suit when he sees all of the attention that Kayla is getting.

So far, Jordan is not really into it.......he knows to go in the potty and if you put him there he will go every time. He just doesn't care one way or the other if he goes in his pants ( I wasn't ready to do underwear with him.....we would be changing him every 5 minutes :)

On another note: Today was our last Kindermusik class for the semester. We start our next semester in 3 weeks I believe. The kids received certificates of completion and little books with pictures of all of their new Kindermusik friends in them. Very Cool!!

2 1/2 year doctor appointment update

Has it been 2 1/2 years already?????

Just wanted to update you on their appointment.

Kayla: 26.9lbs 34.5 inches

Jordan: 27.2lbs 34.75 inches

They are staying close together on weight and height (kind of interesting). I was hoping that they would be close to 35 inches before Disney.....that is our magic number to be able to go on Goofy's Barnstormer. I think they will be there by May :)

Before the appointment Jeromy and I had to fill out a questionnaire (around 5 pages) asking if the kids could perform certain tasks. We had looked at it about a month before and thought....hhhhmmmmm....the kids do most of this stuff already. They did well on their test. The doctor was impressed with their speech and said that she could understand almost everything that they said (she also thought they were doing a little bit of twinspeak.....only they know what they are saying).

I asked her what they should be working on next developmentally and she said their colors....I told her they already knew their colors and I think she was shocked. While we were waiting for the doctor to come in the room Jordan found a crayon and I let him color on the white paper that they put down......the doctor got to see them color and make lines and circles (which is what they should be doing at this age).

She also got to see how frustrated I can get when 2 little kids don't like to share their things :) I made an error in judgement when I made their doctor appt. right during the middle of naptime. Definitely won't do that again!!!!

In all, a great appointment. I am happy that they are thriving and doing so well.

Busy Bee House

Our kids are growing up so fast. After the Holiday they got promoted to the Busy Bee House at their daycare (I guess they call this house a preschool). We were so surprised when they said that they were moving them up so soon. They had the openings and knew that we didn't want to split them up so they discussed it and decided it was time even though Kayla and Jordan weren't potty-trained yet. The kids at this house range in age from 2 1/2 to almost 4. It is amazing to see the differences in skill level with kids that are only 1 year older than Kayla and Jordan.

We had to buy nap mats for them to take their naps on (bye-bye cribs). They are doing so well in this class and enjoying all of the challenging projects that they do. The teachers are working very hard to get them potty-trained (as are we). Well, at least with Kayla. Jordan is a different story. More on Kayla's potty-training in another post.
